Read here Microsoft CRM 4.0 Nice Addons List (Part 2) Hi again everbody this part 2 of the Microsoft CRM 4.0 Nice Addons List :) You can check on Part 1 Here
2. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 Audit Plugin (similar to the business Data Auditing of Microsoft)
This plugin is very nice and I think more efficent than the business Data Auditing for Microsoft but it has one limitation which is when you need to apply the auditing on an entity in Microsoft CRM 4.0 you will have to register the plugin by yourself to all the messages that you want to track in other words this tool will be perfect if it has an administration interface.
3. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Bulk Import and Export tool (very nice and powerful tool)
Makes it easier for people to update and/or export data from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. You won't need to do everything manually. Let the computer do the work, you do the thinking. It's developed in C# on the microsoft CRM SDK. 4. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Documentation Generator (very nice and powerful tool)
This tools generates documentation from an exported CRM 4.0 XML customizations file that works as an addons on top of Excel 2007:
Download Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Documentation Generator!
5. CRM Picklist XML Generator (will save you huge amount of time while customizing picklist values)
This tool is created to help CRM Developers to easily convert the picklist values into CRM XML format that can be easily embedded into the Customization.xml file, instead of inserting the values one by one through the Forms Generator in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 which will take a long time in the case of Countries picklistfor example.
Download CRM Picklist XML Generator!

Microsoft CRM 4.0 Nice Addons List (Part 1)Hey everybody, I've been planning to write this post out from quite a while and finally I managed to complete it and it's basiclly gathering all the nice addons that I've been through that can assist CRM developers, consultants and customers to have better solutions, so here it is with no particular order:
Hint:
I collected those addons from Code plex and code gallery
1. Accelerators for Microsoft Dynamics CRM
CRM Accelerators are a range of add-on solutions developed for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 customers and partners. Each accelerator is available at no cost and will showcase how the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 platform can be configured and extended to broaden marketing, sales and service capabilities. Microsoft Dynamics CRM customers and partners are encouraged to further extend these accelerators to meet their specific business needs. Each accelerator will be fully supported as per any other customization for Microsoft Dynamics CRM that follows SDK guidelines. Additionally, all samples are supplied with full source-code so they can be extended further to meet specific customer requirements.
they include the following accelerators:
a. Notifications
The CRM notifications accelerator allows users to subscribe to the CRM “business events” that are significant to them, e.g. a salesperson is interested in new leads and opportunities assigned to them whereas a customer service representative is interested in new service cases assigned to them. Once the user has subscribed (each user manages their subscription profile) to the types of events that are important to them they can elect how they want these event notifications to be delivered. Notifications are delivered via a Really Simple Syndication (RSS)feed and can be consumed with many desktop tools including Microsoft Outlook 2007 or the standard newsfeed Windows Vista® gadget.
b. Event Management (Very important and almost complete!!!)
The event management accelerator gives organizations the ability to manage the planning, execution, tracking and reporting requirements for events. The event management accelerator focuses on three areas of event management, namely:
A core component of the event management accelerator is the web registration portal that customers and partners can deploy to allow web registration for their events and track these registrations in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The solution also consists of a plugin to manage registration counts and waitlists. c. Extended Sales Forcasting (Very important addon too and you need to install it as It provides the tools and guidance you need to benefit from industry leaders Miller Heiman, SPI Solution Selling, and Target Account Selling (TAS))
The extended sales forecasting accelerator enriches the out-of-the-box sales forecasting capabilities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Principally, sales users of Microsoft Dynamics CRM can review their individual sales pipeline and quickly classify opportunities as committed, excluded or upside. Sales managers can monitor and track sales targets, budgets and performance against these forecasts for specific time periods (e.g. months and quarters).
Underpinning these capabilities are new Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 reports that summarize sales performance for the organization as a whole or for individual salespeople. d. eService (Self Customer portal )
The eService accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 provides customer self-service capabilities (via a web portal) as a configurable out-of-the-box offering.
The eService accelerator is planned to be released as Out of the box feature with CRM 5
e. Analytics R2 (released June 23 2009) (very nice addon)
This is release 2 of 3 for the Analytics Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. This release incorporates some bug fixes to the existing dashboards for SQL Server 2005. It also introduces a set of dashboards for SQL Server 2008.
The following future releases are going through final testing and packaging and will be available soon:
f. Enterprise Search R1
This is Release 1 of 2 of the Enterprise Search Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
The enterprise search accelerator allows Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) customers to view and search for Microsoft Dynamics CRM data directly from their SharePoint portals. By combining these two technologies users from different areas of the business will be able to:
The enterprise search accelerator provides one enterprise portal that users can search and view important customer information and documents from several sources within the organization. Additionally, the technology, Business Data Catalog (BDC), and techniques used with this accelerator can be employed to surface data from other line of business applications to further enrich the MOSS portal. The BDC makes it easy for people to connect to, find, and act on information stored in structured line-of-business systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM) by using a declarative framework to securely integrate them into search results. With the BDC customers and partners can configure actionable audience-specific portals, dashboards and mash-up interfaces for this data without writing any code. Release 1 (this release) includes key documentation on how to deploy MOSS Enterprise Search connecting to Microsoft Dynamics CRM on the standard Microsoft Virtual PC demonstration image. Release 2 will provide additional documentation and tools to allow you to customize your enterprise search solution for different customer and partner requirements. g. Business Productivity Newsfeed
The Business Productivity Newsfeed Accelerator turns Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 into the hub of business activity, letting users keep up to date on events happening across the organization. The Business Productivity Newsfeed Accelerator drives user adoption by presenting CRM data to users in a way that is appealing and interactive, drawing them into the application and encouraging use.
NB: Currently this version of the Business Productivity Newsfeed Accelerator will only work with the On-Premiseedition of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. h. Business Productivity workflow Tools
The Business Productivity Workflow Tools Accelerator provides additional workflow step actions for customers to configure their workflow processes. Each custom action provides additional capabilities around string handling, mathematical functions and HTML hyperlink creation. Once this accelerator is installed workflow designers within Microsoft Dynamics CRM have more flexibility in terms of the processes they can manage through workflows.
NB: Currently this version of the Business Productivity Workflow Tools Accelerator will only work with the On-Premise edition of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. i. Business Data Auditing
The Business Data Auditing Accelerator provides basic audit capabilities for organizations using Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The accelerator takes a snapshot of a record whenever the relevant event occurs within the system such as Create, Update, Assign and Delete. Through workflow, auditing can be configured for any entity and any trigger event.

November 14 Performance Issue when Using CRM 4.0 API for Bulk InsertI faced lousy performance when I tried to do bulk insert using the CRM webservices (API) and I didn't know how to improve the performance of the code till today when I started to review "Programming Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0" by Jim Steger, Mike Snyder, Brad Bosak, Corey O'Brien, Philip Richardson, thank you guys.
When you are using the Microsoft CRM API to insert data in bulk you should pay attention to performance of the web service. Because you will typicall load data with a program to running as a specific user, you can take advantage of connection sharing as shown below:
//Create the service
CrmService service = new CrmService();
service.Credentials = _crmService.Credentials;
service.Url = _crmService.Url;
// Enable unsafe connection sharing
service.UnsafeAuthenticatedConnectionSharing = true;
Enabling the UnsafeAuthenticatedConnectionSharing option increases the performance significantly!!! |
